IPL 2022: After a dismal start to the season, the left-arm pacer for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mukesh Choudhary, said that he was “particularly driven” to perform well in the match against the Mumbai Indians (MI) for the Indian Premier League 2022. CSK’s three-wicket victory earned the 25-year-old bowler the title of Player of the Match for his performance. This included stats of three wickets for 19 runs. After that incident, he became a whole different bowler.
In the first few matches of the IPL 2022 that Choudhary participated in, he was not only very expensive but also did not pick up a lot of wickets. During a match played against the Punjab Kings (PBKS), he was responsible for the loss of 52 runs throughout the course of his four overs.
The left-arm pacer, on the other hand, picked himself up and turned in an outstanding bowling performance during the encounter against MI. In a video posted on the official CSK YouTube channel, Choudhary reflected on the remarkable effort by saying the following:
“I wanted to give my all in the game against Mumbai. So I made sure I was extremely focused. After making my bowling plans and carrying them out well, I came to the conclusion that I do in fact belong here.”
IPL 2022: Mukesh Choudhary was brilliant in the game against Mumbai Indians
In the opening over of the encounter, the youthful bowler claimed the scalps of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Dewald Brevis. He then went on to send back Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. While batting first, Mumbai was only able to reach a score of 155 for seven. Because of a cameo by MS Dhoni, Chennai was successful in batting out the last ball and winning the game.
Choudhary has claimed that he has always had the conviction that he would make an impact, even though he has had a lackluster start to the IPL 2022. However, he did concede that following his early failures, he was anxious about how his prospects would pan out in the future. He remarked that
“When I was chosen, my first reaction was that there must be something special about me that made me stand out from the other candidates. But after the first two matches, I had no idea what I was doing wrong and felt really puzzled about it. After those contests, I had no idea whether or not I would be chosen to participate in future matches. However, the management and the coaches supported me.”
The teenage seamer finished the Indian Premier League 2022 with remarkable statistics, including 16 wickets in 13 matches, an average of 26.50 runs per match, and a strike rate of 17.06.
