5 Big Budget Bollywood films that became super flops at the theatres

In the film Kalank, which was released in 2019, stars like Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Aditya Roy Kapoor, and Varun Dhawan appeared on the screen. The film was made with a budget of Rs 130 crores and has been through many promotional events, but didn’t succeed at the box office. Not only Kalank, there are many films from the past, that were made on a huge budget but failed in the theatres. Even though the movies have been through huge promotions, it was not enough to save the film. Let’s check the list-

1. Bombay Velvet

Bombay Velvet suffered a loss of around 100 Crores. The film was released in 2015. It was directed by Anurag Kashyap. We have seen the duo, Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma for the first time in the movie. Renowned director Karan Johar also played a negative role in the film. The movie was made with a budget of Rs 120 crores. The film has got critical responses from the audience.

2. Raavan

Raavan was released in 2010. The film was featuring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwariya Rai in the lead. It was directed by Mani Ratnam. The film was appreciated by the movie critics of the country. But it did not perform well at the box office. The film went through a loss of 50% of the making budget.

3. Blue

Blue was released in 2009. The film was known as a multi-starer movie, as it was featuring popular stars of that time like Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta and Sanjay Dutt in lead. The film was made under a budget of Rs 100 crores. At that, this kind of budget was very high for making a film. It was known as the most expensive film of that time. But the box office collection was not that much huge. It just earned around Rs 75 crores.

4. Drona

Drona was kind of a superhero film. It was released in 2008. The film was made for around Rs 45 crores. But the movie became a total flop at the box office due to poor direction and average acting skills of the actor. The film was featuring Abhishek Bachchan as the hero, along with Priyanka Chopra and Kay Kay Menon in the lead.

5. Aag

Aag was a modern-day remake of the legendary film Sholay. During the editing period of the movie, it was named Ram Gopal Verma ki Aag. The reason behind the name was, that it was directed by Ram Gopal Verma, a renowned director. But the name of the film was finalised as Aag, later. The remake was featuring popular actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, and Sushmita Sen in the lead. But, due to poor creativity, the film failed at the theatres.
